manly chapstick

Have you ever noticed when guys when they are gonna put on chapstick.
First they grab it from their pocket all gruff and manly.
Then they yank the cap off like it said something bad about they momma.
THEN they every so gracefully spread it on their lips like it is a delicate flower!!!!!!

IT IS THE FUNNIEST THING IN THE WORLD!

I have never ever seen it done any other way.

I bet they go home and wear high heels too!

Update from Drea

Ok so Drea seems to be having a decent time. She said it is really cold in Iraq. She also said that it is basically like being in Texas, but instead of mexicans you have Iraqis.
She also said that all the chow hall workers are Iraqi and when she goes through the line she always asks if something has pork in it, then she doesnt eat it so they all think she is Arab.
She had her first encounter with a sandstorm and was dressed up like a sand ninja with goggles.

EID MUBARAK!!!!!!

yup I had my happy eid Cake ( left over birthday cake ....dont laugh ... it was really really good)
and Happy Eid Pizza .... Because Aly cooked SOOOOOOOOOOO much lamb and I am soooo burnt out of the stuff!
Speaking of lamb did I ever tell you guys about how in Mauritania it is a custom that when people come to visit or what ever you are supposed to bring them a lamb. So we have had quite a few people just drop off a lamb to our house. So one day I come home .... there is a black bag with what looks to be a skinned dog inside. I call my husband, because I cannot understand what my mother in law is telling me. He tells me it is a lamb, I am like well DUH I can figure that out but it is all in one peice. in a garbage bag IN MY DINING ROOM! he asks me to clean out the a place for it.
So picture this I clean off the bottom shelf of the fridge, drag Lassie accross the kitchen and when I picked it up it really was like when I used to try to pick up my dog Princess. IT WAS SO WEIRD! Anyway since then I have not really been eating to much lamb or mutton.

Anyway back to my happy Eid Class.

all aboard

Well we went to see my sister off.
She has been deployed thanks to stupid ole bushy!
It was kind of tense down there because so many soldiers were leaving.
The morning she was supposed to leave was weird because first off we drive down to the base. Sgt. Drea says and the lil plebs jump! Mind you these plebs are twice her size!!!! She was issued her weapon.... and I am not going to use this time to address the fact that the weapon was almost as big as she was. Because she had the weapon she had to walk to the pick up point, while we in our warm cars got to drive. Then typical military, hurry up to wait, we waited.... and waited.... and waited IN THE COLD FREEEEEEEEZING COLD. I think we were all to cold to be sad. It was very depressing tho.
Soooo .... she is on her way to Iraq. And of course in the 12 hour car ride home that is all we are hearing about on the news. EEEEEEEEEEEEK

Oh well Make duaa for her ok!!!!!

Birthday?

Ok so tomorrow is my birthday ... I expect presents!

Actually I dont know what I expect for my birthday!
I am going to be....... 27
YUP the big two Seven!
What do you do for 27? What kind of gifts do you give for 27 year olds?
I must be depressed or something because I am all about birhtdays and what I expect on my birthday. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOoo not this year.
This year I am all BLAH.
Man NEXT YEAR... for the big 28 ... I am gonna throw a mamma jamma party.
WITH INVITATIONS and HATS.....PUNCH the whole nine yards!

First: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

ok now that I got that out of the way. The latest.... well I like my new apartment. Apparently LOTS of people like it because they come over ALL OF THE TIME. of course that could be because they are visiting my mother in law.

The mother in law:
She is really nice... sweeeeeeeeeet lady. Not a word of English ... wait I take that back ... she learned BYE-BYE today because my grandparents were leaving. ( I will get to that later)
She does not do much ... just pray, make du`aa, and listen to Qur`an alllllll day. Man I know she is bored but it has been cold or rainy so not a good time to go out. She has only been out once. And that was to see the MOST AWESOME DOCTOR IN THE WORLD .... Dr. Uncle Baji's Dad

Diagnosis:
She did have a Stroke.... but it was a one time thing we dont have to worry about. The worst part is over. She has HIGH blood pressure and she needs to take care of that.

Dilimma:
Aly and I say she should go home because she has absolutely nothing to do all day. I can not talk to her, I just sit and stare at her, Then I go cook. She has no one to talk to really. Just people who call ... you know for 5 minutes. And then when I call Aly to translate something for me.
His brother... Lemrabott wants her to stay about 2 more months to "relax". I say there is a difference between relaxing and BOREDOM!

Grandparents and DREA:
Ok so my sister came up for new years. She brought her new fella. Phillip AKA lico ( leeeeee co)
Lico seems to be a pretty cool guy. He is Puerto Rican. You know what that means right.... YUP ... He can dance. ahahahahahah
DU`AA's needed******* So far she will be Deployed to Iraq on the 16th*******DU`AAs Needed
My Grandparents also came up on Friday (and left today). We were one of the stops on their american Tour. Always a pleasure to see them. We had A GREAT time. The only thing they asked me about was Maryam as usual .... YOU SEE HOW SHE IS STEALIN MY FAMILY RIGHT FROM UNDER MY NOSE!
